My Fitness Routine

Hi there,
Can you believe January is almost over. I don't even know how this month went so fast. Its been crazy with the weather and work. I am excited for February meaning that its almost spring time. One more month to go. Today's post will be about my fitness routine. This year I wanted to focus more on being healthy and also that exercise is a great stress reliever. There are so many benefits and putting aside 30 minutes to an hour per day is nothing. Instead of watching TV, you can go for a walk or go to a class. Here is my fitness routine. I try to do a workout 5 days a week - this will increase more in Spring since I can be outside more and do biking, hiking, walking, etc.

Monday - 45 minute full body strength training
Tuesday - rest day or 1 hour walk
Wednesday - 30 minute run
Thursday - 45 minute full body strength training
Friday - rest day or yoga
Saturday - 1 hour walk
Sunday - rest day

Starting on February 1, I will be doing another challenge - no eating out - restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Every meal prepared at home.

Also my no spend challenge is almost over. I will do a post on how I did. It was tough but rewarding.

Here are some fitness quotes:)

Benefits of Eating and Preparing Meals at Home

Happy Friday. I am so glad that the weekend is here. This week has been crazy at work - very busy. Also I been working out and eating healthy this week. So far the challenge is going great. Today's post will be about the benefits of cooking at home. This whole month I been preparing my breakfasts, lunches, and dinners at home and its been great. I ate really healthy meals rather than going to a restaurant and eating more calories and feeling tired because I ate too much. Here are some benefits of eating at home:

*More Nutritious Meals - I love that I get to pick good ingredients for my meals and get all of the vitamins and minerals I need. I don't put a lot of oils or salt in my meals at home.

*Save Money - This is a big one. I saved a lot of money not going out to eat. I will probably eat out twice a month usually on paydays. I do my grocery shopping on Sundays and prepare meals for the work week.

*Save Time - Some people might argue that this is not the case. You can just go through the drive-thru and in a couple of minutes you will have your lunch and dinner. But in reality you still have to drive to that place and wait. Most of my meals I prepare literally take 30 minutes or less and healthy.

*Portion Control - Meals at a restaurant are huge. One plate at Cheesecake Factory can feed 2 people compared to if you were preparing meals at home, you know how much to eat and can put it on a smaller plate.

These are all of the reasons I started cooking more at home this year.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend:)

Let me know if you like to cook at home or eat out.

Hi there,
I can't believe I have a week left of no spending challenge. Its been challenging and rewarding. Today I did not do a workout since I was sore from yesterday's workout. My favorite Protein Powder - Perfect Fit

Hi there,
Well I started my 8 week challenge and did my workout tonight. I think I will be very sore tomorrow. Today's post will be about protein powder. I have been on a search for a good protein powder that has simple ingredients, healthy, vegan, gluten free, etc. I found the Perfect Fit Protein Powder. It has 15 grams of protein and 100 calories per serving only. Its great in smoothies and you can also make pancakes and other baked goods using the protein powder. My favorite is the vanilla flavor. You can check it out at

Here is a recipe for post workout or breakfast smoothie.

- 1 scoop of perfect fit vanilla protein powder
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tbs almond butter
- 1 banana

Mix everything in a blender.

Hope everyone has a great week:)

My Eat Clean Diet

Hi there,
I love Sundays. Its one of my favorite days of the week. I get to relax, read, grocery shop, create my to do list for the week, and just get everything ready for Monday. Today's post will be about what I eat. This year I decided not to eat out a lot or buy processed food. I am mainly going to focus on eating real foods with ingredients I can pronounce. If you eat real food, you feel better and have tons of energy. Here are some of my meals that I have been eating.

- Acai Bowl - I love making acai bowls. There are so many different versions you can make and its so healthy. I will be doing a post on how to make an acai bowl in the next couple of weeks.

- Green Smoothie - smoothies are one of my breakfast staples. I usually have a smoothie 5 days in a week. I like to mix up different fruits and vegetables in my smoothie.

My lunch and dinner varies. I usually pack my lunch for work the night before and make dinner at home. This year I decided not to eat out as much maybe once a month.

- Sweet potato with avocado and vegetables - best lunch ever. I have this pretty much everyday for work. Its easy and filling.

- Eggs over easy with vegetables - one of the easiest dinners to make if you're hungry and tired from work

- Salmon with steamed vegetables - my favorite dinner meal. Healthy and delicious. I don't eat meat but have started eating fish.

- Boiled potatoes with steamed spinach - this is another one of my favorite lunches for the weekend.

- Salads with avocado and tuna - quick and easy lunch idea.

Water - I just drink water and tea now. I will do a post on how to drink more water and my favorite teas.

Here is my grocery list. I grocery shop on Sundays for the week.
- Eggs
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Salmon
- Tuna
- Nuts
- Almond Milk
- Unsweetened acai packs

I would love to hear what your favorite and healthy meals are. Please leave a comment.

Tomorrow I start my workouts. My first workout class of this year is total body training. I have a feeling I will be very sore the next day:)
